Movies 2016

2016 have been a slow year when it comes to movies for me. Why? Not sure. Been busy with other things I guess. So, have there been any really good ones, and which ones have been the worst? Well, it was the year for Deadpool which I really loved. And I guess I would put The Revenant, The Danish Girl and Pride amongst my favourites too. The worst? Well, Special Correspondents, The Forest and Yoga Hosers were definitely amongst the worst of them.

Review: As a big fan of Harry Potter, I had to see this prequel to the series. There is something really special about J.K. Rowling's magic world and this film has that special feel too. Totally worth watching if you, like me, go for that kind of films.

Review: I'm a big fan of The Office, so when I heard that David Brent would be back I knew that I wanted to see it. The awkwardness from the series is there for sure. And the humour. But there is something about it that don't really do it for me. I can't put my finger on exactly why?

Review: I quite enjoyed this little tale. Nice effects, entertaining story and good acting overall. Too bad though that the worst acting was by the lead character. Actor Asa Butterfield was boring as fuck! Good movie though.

Review: When I first heard of this film I was both looking forward to it, and at the same time not. It seemed cool, but it was also a DC flick, and DC seldoms succeeds doing good movies. Some cool characters, but all in all it lived up to the DC standard. Which means it wasn't very good.

Review: I loved this documentary about this ultramarathon race in Tennessee. Its lovely characters, the trail itself and the quirky admission fees. Totally worth watching!

Review: I enjoyed this drama about a family where one of the children is born just in order to save her sister's life. It sounds really soapy, but is saved by some great acting all around.

Review: Can't say that I'm into the modern EDM scene, but I felt like checking out this documentary about one of the big names in the scene. I have to say that Steve Aoki comes out like kind of a cool and down to earth kind of guys. Still sceptical about the music though.

Review: This film is highly predictable, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch it. Kind of glad that I did though. Mainly because of the acting from both Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. DeNiro is doing one of his best performances in quite a long time. A charming piece of work

Review: I have never got around to read Marianne Fredrikssons novel Simon och ekarna, even though I have heard a lot of good about it. Now after finally watching the movie version of it, I just have to read it. Why? Because the film was really good, and the books are usually better than the film version of it.

Review: I really do love Star Trek. And I dug this latest installment. The only critique might be that these last movies feel more and more like typical Hollywood actions flicks, and not great Star Trek work. Fun, but a bit weird, to hear Fight the Power by Public Enemy in the movie btw.

Review: After putting it off for years, I have finally looked through the complete series of The Inbetweeners. I really enjoyed it to begin with, but quite soon it got a bit too repetitive and silly. I felt I had to see this film though to complete it all. And yes, silly is the word.

Review: Ghostheads is a documentary about the devoted fans of the Ghostbusters movies. An ok watch, but it just feels like one of many documentaries like this that try to say that they are the most dedicated fan base of all out there.

Review: I have a slight visual memory of the band Thor from back in the 80's, but I can't remember if I actually heard them or not. This documentary about the struggles of Jon Miki Thor to reach the level of fame and stardom that he feels he deserves is a warm and at the same time sad tale. I liked it.

Review: There's nothing new about this kind of story. And the acting isn't brilliant in any way. It is however charming and warm enough to put a smile on my lips. That's good enough in my book most of the time.
