The Interview

The Interview

Review: This is without a doubt one of the most talked about films of 2014. Completely understandable too. This is however not a good film by any means. It was nothing more than 2 hours wasted that I will never get back. And I just have to say itSeth Rogen is one of the most annoying actors out there today. I loved him in Freaks and Geeks, but since then he just bores me with his silly laugh and constant propaganda for weed.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

Review: Probably my favourite of the Hobbit-films. It's a bit darker than the others, and don't contain as much slow passages. The only disappointment, as always, is when Legolas gets to show off. The effects are just too silly to accept to be honest. All in all, a very good ending to the triology.

What We Do in the Shadows

What We Do in the Shadows

Review: A highly entertaining horror comedy from New Zealand. First time in a while that I have been able to enjoy something with vampires in it, thanks to True Blood and Twilight. A recommendation!

Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy

Review: I wasn't really too sure as to what I would think about this film. I was a bit afraid that I would find it too childish. But it turned out to be quite entertaining and a good watch.

The Unbelievers

The Unbelievers

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

Review: How I just loved Sin City when it came out in 2005. The color processing, the humour, the characters and the violence was just a treat for my eyes back then. I have been looking forward to the follow up ever since, and finally it's here. Is it as good as the first one then? No, not really. Or perhaps it is, but it's not feeling that fresh anymore and don't impress me as much as the first one did. Worth watching? Definitely!

En gång om året

En gång om året

Review: I've been looking forward to watching this film ever since I heard about it for the first time. Not because it seemed like a good one, and it really wasn't. No, the reason why I've been wanting to see it was the soundtrack. The people responsible for making it is Kristian Matsson and Amanda Hollingby Matsson, better known as The Tallest Man on Earth and Idiot Wind. And the music did not disappoint. Would love for it to end up as a physical release. The film though is easily forgetable.

Pure Fucking Mayhem

Pure Fucking Mayhem

Review: I'm pretty sure that I have watched this documentary about the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem before, but this time around I sat down to watch it focused. It's an interesting tale of the legendary band with all its bizarre ups and downs, and it really tells us their view on it all.

Jodorowsky's Dune

Jodorowsky's Dune

Review: A wonderful documentary about perhaps the greatest movie never made. After seeing this film about Alejandro Jodorowsky's vision about Dune, it is sad that all we got in the end was David Lynch's version instead.

Rating: 6.5/10

The Punk Singer

The Punk Singer

Review: A really good documentary about Kathleen Hanna, known from, amongst other things, Bikini Kill and Le Tigre. An inspiring person telling an interesting story. On another note I just have to say that the coolest celebrity couple ever has to be Kathleen Hanna and Adam Horovitz.

Rating: 7.5/10

The Fades

The Fades

Review: I have promised a friend of mine to write this review about the British tv show The Fades, so here it goes. The Fades is a fantasy/horror show that was produced for one season. It's about the fight between the living and ghosts. Kind of. It is quite entertaining, but I can not really say why. It sure is not for the effects, because they are crap. And the acting is not the best either. But it is fun somehow, and that is often enough.

The Butler

The Butler

Review: Some really great acting saves this film that is inspired by the life of Eugene Allen. Allen was a butler at The White House between 1952-1986. Too many cliches in the end stops this from being a warm and beautiful film. Feel free to check it out though.
