How to Make Money Selling Drugs

How to Make Money Selling Drugs

Review: An interesting, and quite different, documentary dealing with the issue of drugs in the U.S. Wasn't too sure about it to begin with, but it grew on me.

Spring Breakers

Spring Breakers

Review: When I first saw the poster to Spring Breakers, I was quite sure that I wasn't going to watch it. But when I heard that the man behind it was Harmony Korine, I felt I had to check out anyway. He's been involved with films such as Gummo and Kids, so I hoped that Spring Breakers would be something similar. Unfortunately Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens are also involved. And how much they try to play dangerous, edgy girls on the loose it never for a second feels believable. The only thing in the film that feels less believable is James Franco as a rapper with a grill and everything. When Gummo and Kids felt interesting and real, Spring Breakers more feel like an MTV version of it.

Schultze Gets the Blues

Schultze Gets the Blues

Review: A quiet charming film about self discovery at a late time in life. About not giving up and always keeping an open mind and heart.

Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter

I just finished watching the third and finale episode of the German mini-series Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter. A really good and well made tale of 5 German friends during World War II. It's interesting to see a film about this part in history told strictly from a German perspective. A definite recommendation for anyone interested in history and the human psyche.

The Imposter

The Imposter

Review: The Imposter is an interesting, and quite different, documentary about a man who steals the identity of a young boy who's gone missing. It leaves the viewer with more questions than answers though to be honest, and that's partly frustrating in the end.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Review: Hedwig and the Angry Inch is based on a stage musical of the same name. It tells the story of a transgender East German singer. It's sad, sometimes overly dramatic, well played and entertaining.

Jagten

Jagten

Review: Very well made film about a man who gets wrongfully accused of molesting a young child. It's a really tricky subject to make a movie about, but Thomas Vinterberg is making it just the way it ought to be made. A film that really touched me. Probably one of the better movies I've seen in a long time.
