Review: A documentary dealing with the under-representation of women in positions of power and the media and what that is doing to us as a people. A subject that is really interesting to talk about. I did however not feel that the documentary itself was that interesting and it didn't really say anything I didn't know already.

Review: Time to watch yet another installment of The Hunger Games. Nothing special to be honest, and the lack of action kind of bored me in the end. OK film, nothing more.

Review: A very well made film about an incredibly important time in our modern history. Selma might feel a bit slow sometimes, but thanks to great acting and cinematography it's continuously a joy to watch.

Review: I wasn't sure what to think of this when I first heard about it. The main reason that I decided to watch it in the end was because of J.K. Simmons. I love that actor and he didn't disappoint me here. Nothing about this film disappointed. A really intense film with great acting and lots of emotions. A beauty.

Review: This is the first Lego based film or show that I've seen. I don't know why I decided to watch this one, but I'm not sorry I did. It was actually really fun and a good watch.

American Sniper

Review: There has been quite a lot of talk about this film. About whether or not it is OK to make a film more or less glorifying the life of a sniper. I don't buy into the whole hero theme of this film, but it is a very well made film with some really good acting. Definitely worth watching. One truly annoying part of the movie though is the satellite phone calls to the protagonist's wife. Like that would actually take place like that.

Review: Some really creepy and good acting by Jake Gyllenhaal in this crime thriller. It is a dark, brutal and good film, so I recommend you to check this out. Unless you are in the mood for a feelgood flick.

Review: A low-key film based on the real life of multi millionarie John du Pont and the wrestling brothers Dave and Mark Schultz. It's a dark and quite tragic tale that is beautifully acted by Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo.

Review: A good drama with some really good acting. I've always been a huge fan of Robert Downey Jr., and he is doing a great job here but the true star here is Robert Duvall. I can totally understand why his nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actor this year.

Review: A documentary about how China treats young people with an addiction to the Internet and online gaming. It has its moments, but overall not very interesting.

Review: What is there to be said about Boyhood that hasn't already been said by tons of people? Just go see it, you won't be disappointed. I was afraid that watching a film that's 165 minutes long would be too much, but to be honest, I didn't notice it all. Amazing film!

Review: I'm far from a huge fan of Swedish films. On average I might watch like one a year or so, and usually quite coincidentally. A lot of people have however talked about Turist so I thought I ought to give it a try. I'm glad I did. It was really naked, honest and quite brutal in its depiction of the human soul and the need to hold on to a facade, no matter what. It deals quite a bit with the stereotypical male and female roles in our modern society, and it does so head on. Definitely worth watching.

The Theory of Everything

Review: A very good film based on Jane Wilde's memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, which deals with her relationship with her ex-husband, theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking. There are some really great acting in it, especially by Eddie Redmayne in the role as Stephen Hawking. To see him transform from a healthy young man to one crippled by physical disease is amazing.

Review: Birdman is definitely one of the most talked about films at the moment, and rightly so. I love it! I can't even really say why, but I love the acting, the story in all its weirdness, the cinematography and the overall feel of it. Wouldn't mind seeing this film snatching a few wins at the Oscars this year.

Review: Kevin Smith. One of my favourite directors and writers out there. So whenever he releases something I just have to watch it. Sometimes that means I get disappointed. Like when I just watched Tusk. This horror comedy had it's moments, but the story is far too weak for an entire movie.

Review: I have been wanting to see The Imitation Game since I first heard of it. Both because of the historic story it is telling, but also because I always enjoy to watch Benedict Cumberbatch doing what few people can do as well as him nowadays. Good acting all around and a highly entertaining watch.

Review: A really interesting documentary about a man who impersonates a wise Indian Guru and builds a following in Arizona. It's a warm and thought provoking film about the need to find the strength inside ourselves. I highly recommend it.

Movies 2014

2014 has felt like a kind of a slow year for me when it comes to movies. I haven't really watched that many. But among my favourites this year I have to mention 12 Years a Slave, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Her and Dallas Buyers Club among the feature films and Blackfish, Hoop Dreams, G-Dog and Jodorowsky's Dune among the best documentaries I've seen this year.

Review: This is without a doubt one of the most talked about films of 2014. Completely understandable too. This is however not a good film by any means. It was nothing more than 2 hours wasted that I will never get back. And I just have to say it, Seth Rogen is one of the most annoying actors out there today. I loved him in Freaks and Geeks, but since then he just bores me with his silly laugh and constant propaganda for weed.

Review: Probably my favourite of the Hobbit-films. It's a bit darker than the others, and don't contain as much slow passages. The only disappointment, as always, is when Legolas gets to show off. The effects are just too silly to accept to be honest. All in all, a very good ending to the triology.

Review: A highly entertaining horror comedy from New Zealand. First time in a while that I have been able to enjoy something with vampires in it, thanks to True Blood and Twilight. A recommendation!
