45 Years

45 Years

Review: Some really great acting from Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay in an otherwise quite unrewarding film.

Suffragette

Suffragette

Review: A really good film about the suffragette movement in England in the early 20th century. Great acting, smashing settings and a story that is well told about a very important period in history.

Rating: 7.5/10

Carol

Carol

Review: I wish that I liked this film better than I did. There were some great acting and I loved the setting and the feel of it. The story however didn't really do anything for me in the end. A shame really since it tells a story too seldom told in films.

Rating: 5.5/10

Dark Places

Dark Places

Review: A decent mystery drama with some decent acting. Nothing more, nothing less.

Trumbo

Trumbo

Review: As much as I like the setting of this film and the story itself, what really blew me away was the amazing acting by the entire cast. I can understand why Bryan Cranston is nominated for an Academy Award, but to be fair, there are almost too many good performances here to mention. A joy to watch.

Rating: 7.5/10

Brooklyn

Brooklyn

Review: I was kind of expecting a bleak and quite depressing film when I sat down to watch Brooklyn. But I was wrong. It was sweet, moving and very well made. The acting was really good, and the script by Nick Hornby was a treat.

Anomalisa

Anomalisa

Review: Charlie Kaufman. How can you not love this amazing genius? He's without a doubt my favourite screen writer. There's not a single one of his films that I haven't enjoyed immensely, and Anomalisa is no exception. Beautiful stop-motion film that you really have to see.

Rating: 7.5/10

Trophy Kids

Trophy Kids

Review: A good documentary about psycho parents. That's the only way I can describe these parents that bully their kids into becoming great athletes. Tragic people.
