The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara

The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara

Review: When it comes to war, Robert S. McNamara wants us to know that our history with war has taught us plenty. Not that we've learned much from it. A must see for anyone interested in modern history told by someone who has played a big part of the last 100 years of it.

Reality 86'd

Reality 86'd

Review: This documentary is probably not very interesting to everybody, but being a fan of Black Flag I enjoyed it. It's a road documentary shot from the inside of the last Black Flag tour ever, the 1986 In My Head US tour.

Review: Really entertaining documentary about people playing wheelchair rugby. Perhaps it doesn't sound very interesting, but it was a truly enjoyable watch.

Deliver Us from Evil

Deliver Us from Evil

Review: This documentary left me with a really bad feeling inside. It's about pedophile priest Oliver O'Grady, and the Catholic bureaucracy that protected him. It also deals with clergy abuse in general in the Catholic church. It's films like this that makes me hate the human race.

Adult Rappers

Adult Rappers

Review: This documentary is a must to check out if you, like me, enjoy artists such as J-Zone, Eternia, Blueprint, Esoteric, Dezmatic, R.A. the Rugged Man, Astronautalis, Slug, Serengeti, Open Mike Eagle, Murs and Masta Ace. For the rest of you, it's still worth watching if you're interested in modern culture and a story of hip hop that you don't often get to hear.

Twenty Feet from Stardom

Twenty Feet from Stardom

Review: Merry Clayton, Darlene Love and Lisa Fischer. Maybe these are names that you're not completely familiar with. But I'm pretty sure that you have heard their voices hundreds of times. This documentary tells us the stories of these people, and many more besides them, who are the unsung heroes of the music industry, the background singers. Great film that really puts the spotlight on some amazing artists.

Citizenfour

Citizenfour

Review: Interesting documentary about Edward Snowden, the man responsible for leaking the information about the NSA spying back in 2013. What makes this documentary extra interesting and rewarding is how it's not just a film talking about the man and what he did, but it actually shows us the preparations done by Snowden, in collaboration with documentarian Laura Poitras and journalists Glenn Greenwald and Ewen MacAskill and then shows us the story unravel before our eyes. Really well made and totally worth watching.

Man on Wire

Man on Wire

Review: The beauty of a really well made documentary is that you don't have to be the slightest interested in the subject to begin with. The storytelling and the execution of it can get you hooked anyway. Like with Man on Wire. The thought of watching a documentary about Philippe Petit's 1974 high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of New York's World Trade Center don't sound very interesting at all. But I really liked it. It's thrilling and beautiful and I really recommend it.

Atari: Game Over

Atari: Game Over

Review: Even though I've never really been a big gamer, there is something about that culture that fascinates me. So when I stumbled upon this documentary on Netflix I just had to see it. It's basically about the rise and fall of Atari, and the mystery concerning the E.T. videogame. Fun to watch, but in the end nothing special.
