Scoop

Scoop

Review: I do like my Woody Allen movies, but the thing is the they are quite uneven. Scoop is one of the more annoying one unfortunately. The storyline is kind of weak, but what makes it really annoying is Woody Allen's character which is just a bit too much for my taste.

Himlen är oskyldigt blå

Himlen är oskyldigt blå

Review: I'm not really a fan of Swedish movies, but I do know that if Bill Skarsgård is in it, then I will like it. And I enjoyed Himlen är oskyldigt blå. Not so much for the story, but for the actors and the settings.

Ted

Ted

Review: I'm a huge fan of more or less everything that Seth MacFarlane's ever done. When I head about Ted, his first full length feature film, I got more than just a little bit excited. Unfortunately it didn't really work out. It had some fun parts for sure, but mostly it just felt very uninspired and lazy. A shame.

Happy End

Happy End

Review: I wasn't really convinced by this Swedish drama itself, but the acting in it was excellent. Ann Petrén, Gustaf Skarsgård and Johan Widerberg were all amazing.

Beaver Falls

Sometimes you stumble across a tv show that you're not really sure if you like or not, but you keep watching none the less. Beaver Falls is one of them. There are several elements to the show that I really shouldn't like, but at the same time there is something that made me watch the entire first season. What? I'm not really sure. Maybe I just need some simple entertainment from time to time.

Hysteria

Hysteria

Review: A quite silly, but cute story about Mortimer Granville, the inventor of the first vibrator. A rather typical rom-com that produced a couple of laughs at least.

Jiro Dreams of Sushi

Jiro Dreams of Sushi

Review: Jiro Dreams of Sushi is the story abut Jiro Ono, considered by many to be the world's best sushi chef. At the age of 85, he's been making sushi for over 70 years. It's a warm and interesting tale of him, his sons and the constant drive to improve ones skills.

Game Change

Game Change

Review: Game Change is an HBO produced movie based around the McCain/Palin campaign back in 2008. Funny, interesting and well worth the watch. Julianne Moore did an excellent job portraying the probably far from smartest Alaskan citizen.

Woody Allen: A Documentary

Woody Allen: A Documentary

Review: I do like Woody Allen, and it was with great pleasure that I sat down to watch this documentary. And it was quite entertaining. I mean, the man's got a great sense of humour. But I'm not sure that it was worth over 3 hours of people just praising him. Got a bit fed up at the end. Still, worth checking out if you're a fan like me.

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games

Review: When The Hunger Games first came out, there was a lot of talk about it. Never got around to watching it until now, but now that I did I can't really understand what the fuss was all about. Probably it was the thing about kids killing kids. Well, Lord of the Flies did it all so much better and so much more brutal. This was an ok watch, but not memorable.

Get the Gringo

Get the Gringo

Review: When is a Mel Gibson film ok nowadays? On a long, boring flight from Singapore when you are too tired to focus on anything essential. Other than that, they're not good.

The Rise & Fall of a White Collar Hooligan

En kongelig affære

En kongelig affære

Review: Wow! That's really all I have to say about this Danish historical drama. It's beautifully executed, the acting is first rate and the story itself is gripping on many levels. I was going to say that if you only watch one costume drama this year, then let it be En kongelig affære, but I think I ought to say that if you only watch one film this year, then let it be this one. Mads Mikkelsen, Mikkel Boe Følsgaard and Alicia Vikander all blew me away. A masterpiece.

The Newsroom

I just watched the first episode of Aaron Sorkin's new show The Newsroom that premiered on HBO last week. It looks really promising and I'm sure I will keep following it for quite a while.
