Moonlight

Moonlight

Review: This film is truly praised and hyped up, and it's worth every word. It's a really beautiful story in my ways and it's beautifully presented.

Kill Your Friends

Kill Your Friends

Review: Perhaps the novel this film is based on is good, but the film isn't. It's like a music world version of American Psycho, but a bad version. Some good actors spoiling their talents here.

Hacksaw Ridge

Hacksaw Ridge

Review: Wow! I really liked this one. It's based on the true story of Desmond Doss, a combat medic in World War II who was a conscientious objector. Some really good acting and some marvelous and brutal combat scenes make this a really good film!

Arrival

Arrival

Review: When I first saw the trailer for this at the cinema the other week, it didn't really feel like anything I was going to hurry to watch. I'm glad that I did watch it though, because this was a really smart and intelligent sci-fi film that felt quite unique. Wasn't superimpressed by the acting, but I really dug the film.

Tracks

Tracks

Review: This is an adaptation of Robyn Davidson's memoir of the same name, chronicling the author's nine-month journey on camels across the Australian desert. It was not bad, but somehow the story felt a bit too easy. I was kind of expecting that Robyn would come across way more hurdles than we get to see in the film. This made it a bit too monotonous for me.

La La Land

La La Land

Review: I'm not a huge fan of musicals, but I felt that I had to watch this one after hearing so much praise about it. And I'm not disappointed. It's beautifully made and the acting is good. The story is not the strongest perhaps, but that's seldom the case when it comes to musicals if you ask me. Worth watching either way.

I, Daniel Blake

I, Daniel Blake

Review: I do love Ken Loach. Not all of his films are great, but all of them are at least worth watching. And I, Daniel Blake is Loach in good form and Dave Johns is great in the lead role.

Movies 2016

2016 have been a slow year when it comes to movies for me. Why? Not sure. Been busy with other things I guess. So, have there been any really good ones, and which ones have been the worst? Well, it was the year for Deadpool which I really loved. And I guess I would put The Revenant, The Danish Girl and Pride amongst my favourites too. The worst? Well, Special CorrespondentsThe Forest and Yoga Hosers were definitely amongst the worst of them.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Review: As a big fan of Harry Potter, I had to see this prequel to the series. There is something really special about J.K. Rowling's magic world and this film has that special feel too. Totally worth watching if you, like me, go for that kind of films.

David Brent: Life on the Road

David Brent: Life on the Road

Review: I'm a big fan of The Office, so when I heard that David Brent would be back I knew that I wanted to see it. The awkwardness from the series is there for sure. And the humour. But there is something about it that don't really do it for me. I can't put my finger on exactly why?

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Review: I quite enjoyed this little tale. Nice effects, entertaining story and good acting overall. Too bad though that the worst acting was by the lead character. Actor Asa Butterfield was boring as fuck! Good movie though.

Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad

Review: When I first heard of this film I was both looking forward to it, and at the same time not. It seemed cool, but it was also a DC flick, and DC seldoms succeeds doing good movies. Some cool characters, but all in all it lived up to the DC standard. Which means it wasn't very good.
